Titled "Ο Ντούτσε αφηγείται" (Il Duce narrates), this anti-war short animated film began in the greek island of Sifnos during the italian fascist occupation in 1942.
One can see what a daring move that must have been. The animator was Stamatis Polenakis. He made the drafts in Sifnos and after Greece's liberation he moved in 1945 in Athens. There, together with Papadoukas and Merevidis, the filming process began.
The film then was virtually buried till it was discovered in 1980. For a country like Greece, not so well known for her animated features, the importance of this movie is immense.
Humorous in tone it has some similarities with the anti-Axis cartoons of that era, especially those of Europe.
In the film Mussolini in his castle has in front of him Italian History and he narrates the great deeds of the fascist army during the invasion of Greece in 1940. But as he narrates those deeds, in reality the completely opposite occurs, thus ridiculing him and his boastfulness.
The introductory credits mention: "This short "Mickey Mouse type" movie is the first in its kind that was filmed in Greece. For that reason we ask the audience to judge this movie with clemency"
